Left Skala Harbour, Patmos crack of dawn to find our own private bay to have a swim & breakfast. Decadent?
Kerry & I took the kayaks for a run ashore, then a trot uphill to check out the Greek Orthodox church - plenty to choose from! Met Toby & wandered further uphill to see the Monastery of St John in the distance. We hadn't travelled far by sea, just seemed like it!
A lazy day - sleeping, reading, making arrangements to FINALLY catch up with my luggage.
After lunch put up the sails and headed gently to Lipsos, mooring in a cove, with a view of town through binoculars - no people or vehicles to be seen.
Jumpers out tonight . Fresh on deck!
Morning of 14th awoke to the sound of dozens of goat bells wandering on shore close by- better than the rooster of previous morning!
Grabbed a kayak and headed along the shore to yet another Greek Orthodox Church in the middle of nowhere. Apart from the goat bells total silence, and no living soul to be seen!
Water still, deep and clear to the bottom. Moored at tiny jetty adjacent to church and hiked to the top of the hill, to yet another Church, fortified with extremely agricultural wire fencing to keep the goats out. Climbed through the fence, a key on string in the door to the church! Trusting?
Back down the hill, a pathetic attempt at run back to the kayak, then a paddle back to the boat, followed by a swim around the boat.
Toby got the wind surfer set up & headed for Samos, impressive out & return.
Up anchor & into town. Gorgeous , quiet island. Barely a soul around. Everyone went their own way, somehow reuniting at the local patisserie. Unbelievable find, & well patronised by the locals.
I couldn't decide which homemade mini magnum, asked the owner for advice on which flavor ice cream inside the vanilla bean infused white . He couldn't remember, so grabbed one and took a bite - vanilla.
Back on board now for lunch & trip to Samos, hopefully luggage has arrived there from Athens.
