Wind whipped up early after calmer night & much hilarity over dinner & quiz antics!
Vicki & I paddled around the bays this morning, coming home a wet workout! Bee boxes were set amongst flowering wild thyme bushes above one bay, small caves in the cliffs of another, all were deserted, no houses, boats, or goats to be seen.
Next a swim. The shoreline delicious, great to luxuriate in the warm shallows, then a feisty swim back to the boat for another exceptional breakfast. This one included chef made buns, warm, with bitter chocolate swirls!! The standard fare of fresh peaches, kiwi fruit, banana & yoghurt preceded, and warm homemade bread with olive tapenade and the best flavored, juiciest tomatoes followed. No eggs which ever way you want, pancakes, or toast required.
After breakfast up anchor and heading south for Leros. Big wind gusts the entire way, with no protected bays, so arrived Leros earlier than scheduled. Italian influence on the island marked in the architecture which is entirely different to anywhere else we have been.
A quick reconnaissance around town from the commercial dockside & a s***ty encounter made this an island to leave off my 'to do again' list, though believe from our Captain if you are willing to tender in, mooring on the OTHER side of the town provides a better experience. Too late for this little black duck!!
