Arrived in surfers paradise on Sunday morning. Weather unfortunately was pretty bleuurgh the first day so depressingly had to make an umbrella purchase... But definitely worth it! Was a bit concerned that buying an umbrella would of course make the weather nice but who's complaining there!! It seemed like a nice little area though despite the icky rain. Beach is huuuuge! My hostel (backpackers resort) was a bit out of town but only a 30 second walk to the beach which is pretty handy, and there was free shuttles all day in to the centre. Had a pretty chilled first day then went out that evening - taking advantage of the hostel free entry and drinks offers was a must! Mondays weather was much laaavlier so a group of us headed down to wet n wild, a big water park part of a group of theme parks. I wasn't going to go but managed to get a mega discount on my ticket and decided it was a must do while I was here seeing as the parks are one of the main things that put surfers paradise on the map! And I was very glad I decided to. The weather was perfect for us all day and it was brilliant fun :D never before have I been on a vertical drop slide where you are placed in a little tube and the floor just disappears from beneath your feet before launching you in to a loop the loop... Blooooomin scary but worth it! Spent Tuesday chilling in the morning and getting a few bits sorted for my trip. I've organised a couple of weeks worth now so I can have a bit of peace of mind when it comes to where I'm sleeping for the night. Seeing as it was FREE BEN AND JERRYS DAY it would have been rude not to take advantage of that too, definitely worth a trip to town! Had another night out in the evening but lost everyone pretty quick as the bouncers decided it was my time to leave. Apparently standing on your own quietly at the bar indicates that you're too drunk.. Bit frustrating but ah well. Ended up sat with a couple of people on the beach till the early hours which was pretty relaxing :) checking out today to head up to Brisbane for the next week. Hoping to get to some sort of zoo or animal place at some point but otherwise I'm not quite sure how to fill my time! I'm liking looking at everywhere but it's getting a bit samey just looking at towns. It'll be nice to get a bit further north and see some of the more beautiful parts of Australia, so I'm looking forward to that. Missing everyone back home lots :( Amy x
