The Translator ;) At its worst has nothing to do with the picture, as that doesn’t look half bad! But it is one of the few photos I have from Ko Samui despite me spending 3 nights there It all started on Ko Tao… Friday, when I was doing my last dive to get my certificate I was already ill, but as I was on the boat at the time, I thought it could be seasickness. Fate would have it otherwise. When I woke up Saturday morning I felt awful! It wasn’t the best time – I was supposed to check out at 10am and take the ferry on to Ko Samui at 3pm – no way could I do that. I was so ill, I could only pack one item then lie down for 5-10 minutes, so at 9.30am I was in reception asking if I could check out later. I ended up paying for half a night and slept until I had to check out at 1pm. It help a little but I still felt really bad – could neither eat nor drink. The heat wasn’t helping either, but I did manage to leave! I arrived at my hostel on Ko Samui –so far so good! I actually felt better, but that was unfortunately because I hadn’t eaten anything. The next morning (or rather midday) I woke and felt fine. I went to the beach, and had a little to eat. No good! Ill again. So after a talk with my insurance company I went to the Bangkok Hospital Samui where I got some medicin and had a blood test, which showed that I had an “ordinary” stomach bug. It may be that it was ordinary, but it felt much worse to me AND being alone! I could have used my dear Mum by my side during those days! But I coped, which almost made me believe that I can handle anything :D What I did manage to see on Ko Samui I saw the beach and Chaweng town. There isn’t much to do on the island – almost all trips go to the surrounding islands!) But I would have liked to see the waterfall. Illness spoils plans, so I spent too much time on the island in relation to how much time I have. When I arrived at the hostel I was the ONLY ONE. Normally I would have thought that was boring, but being ill, it was ok, especially when I was sleeping in a dorm. The day before I left (where I was feeling much better) a brother and sister arrived from England. They seemed really nice and so I had a little company. The only day I had on the island where I wasn’t ill was spent having a Thai massage (really, really good and 1 hour for only 35,5 DKK!) and had a little to eat and drink with the two newcomers. A surprise! In the morning, the day I had to leave, I woke with a start. Someone was rattling the door, and then a young man came in –totally unexpected! I had been alone the last two nights and the only people apart from me that had checked in was the brother and sister who had arrived that day. A little odd as there were no other bags in there. It seemed a little random! It was 6am so could sleep a little longer – or so I thought. The mystery man started to snore really loudly. It was driving us all mad! The two British tried shaking the bed and prodding him, neither of which helped…. But after a while he stopped snoring. When I was waiting for my transport on to Khao Sok just before 8am the mystery man appeared with a massive hangover – went in to 7 eleven and bought some water and disappeared! I have no idea why he had been in our dorm but it didn’t really matter as I was moving on!
Mor He probably didnt know what he was doing there either! :) Thai massage sounds like a real bargain!
