Khao Sok oplevelser:
Stedet her er fantastisk!
Her fik vi rigtig lækker thai frokost. Det tog mig to timer at falde i søvn igår aftes.

The translator ;) Beautiful Kaho Sok! ……………………..Yesterday I arrived at Khao Sok, which is absolutely fantastic!........................... I had paid for the bus and ferry from my hostel to Khao Sok, in the area where the most resorts are. I was driven to a bus, which also went on the ferry, a really old ferry, and after that drove to Surat Thani. When we got there we had to check in with the agency that we had bought the trip at. We had to wait here. I have to say it was some kind of local restaurant?! But one of the workers asked if I had booked a place to sleep that night. I said I hadn’t so he told me I could sleep in a jungle hut, and that I would be picked up from the main street, when we had been dropped off the bus. According to Lonely Planet it should be 2km from the road to the start of thenational park and that the resorts would be all the way down that road. His story was different – he said it was 15km and I would have to take a taxi that would cost 150 baht. He suggested I booked a night and I could be picked up free of charge. In the mean time I had spoken to a couple who had stayed overnight at the place I am now: Baan Khao Sok Resort. They said it was really good. I thought I would check it out, or find something else, so I said no thanks to the man who was starting to get rather pushy. When that happens I get stubborn so no way was I going to take his offer. He got rather angry with me and said that I would get kicked off the bus and then I could pay my own way, which suited me fine…………………………... I didn’t need the taxi – I would just walk (which seems to be rather unusual for the locals?) He had worried me a little bit though so I opened my MapsWithMe Pro app which is an offline map that uses GPS only (you can download it for any country) and had a look at the area. Right enough, as Lonely Planet had written, there was no more than 2km to the start of the park and there were resorts/guesthouses all the way along that road. So thanks a lot for the app Jan – you were right – it is very useful. From then the trip went smoothly and I arrived at the resort without further problems, where I paid for a treehouse that you can see on the picture! ……………………………………………………………. Experiences at Khao Sok :………………………………. This place is amazing! Its owned by a family and they are just so friendly and helpful! The first evening, when I was eating at the restaurant, I was the only guest. So I ate whilst they sorted laundry and the children were playing nearby – it was so homely and cosy! ……………………………………… Today I went on a trip to the lake. Now I can’t remember the name of it, but it’s a really big lake shown on the map! It took about an hour by boat to reach some small huts on the water. We had a really delicious Thai lunch there. We bathed in the lake and went canoeing. But the trip through the rain forest (think it was described as an evergreen rain forest) was really good fun. With mud up to the ankles and water to the waist through the river and up to the chest in the grotto it was a real adventure! Beautiful nature, rivers with small waterfalls, loads of really beautiful butterflies and much much more. …………………………………. If I had had time I would have booked a night in one of the small huts on the lake and trekked a little more in the forest, but that will have to wait until another time. I’m really tired after today. Am moving on to Krabi tomorrow morning so I hope I can fall asleep tonight. It took me a few hours to fall asleep last night, but the sounds, the heat and the fact that I wasn’t tired yesterday was probably the reason for that. It’s a little later in the evening now, and so a little cooler , but it’s early to bed, and that’s just how it is in the jungle where there isn’t anything to do when it has got dark, and it will be dark before 7pm. I would add that there wasn’t any wifi yesterday so I couldn’t update my blog and do anything else on the net. I know I probably shouldn’t be using it at all, BUT it’s actually quite nice, especially when I am on my own. And yes, wifi and a really good Tv-signal and everything else you need in the 21st Century
