It's been great travelling through the small towns of the North Burnett region and now the Central Highlands of Queensland. Felt like we were driving through 'fruit salad' country with the 'Big Mandarin', the 'Big Orange' (although we didn't see this one), and a town called 'Banana' in the 'Banana Shire' We had a night in Emerald camped by the river between the main thoroughfare and the railway bridge with a few other 'free-loaders'! Now we've made our way to another lovely lake/dam called Bundoora Dam which is north-east of Emerald. What a great little spot. We are camped literally at the water's edge with green grass at our feet. Able to swim, kayak, catch red-claw and just relax. We can even get internet reception! And the best thing of all is ... it's all free! We'll probably stay here over Easter and eat our hot cross buns.
