Lawn Hill National Park, also known as Boodjamulla has been a wonderful oasis to spend a few days. We have been camped right in the national park so that we could be close to the action. There are only 20 spots, however it's only about half full, so very peaceful.
We've been on a few different walks and canoed up the middle gorge to Indarra Falls, which is an amazing pool area with 3-4 little waterfalls cascading over the 'tufa', which are the type of rock formations here. We then carried the canoe overland to paddle the upper gorge as well. Amazing to be surrounded be sheer red, rocky cliffs, clear emerald green water and the beautiful palm lined edges of the gorge and creek.
The upper gorge circuit walk was spectacular and is now on my 'favourites' list of walks we've done! We've had numerous swims in and around the falls as well as in the gorge creek close to our camp - so refreshing! In the water are Archer fish which are about 15cm long and can spit water out to catch insects. One of them squirted me in the face while I was standing on the edge!
The ranger spoke to us about the 'gulf snapping turtle' which also inhabits this creek and we could watch them release a group of them that were tagged. Our last morning was spent hiking up to Constance Range to watch the beautiful sunrise.
Overall, it's been a wonderful experience to see God's creation at its fullest!
