Another big day on the UK tour. We left Plymouth early so we could get to Glastonbury nice and early (no idea why). This place isn't just a music festival, it has an old ruined abbey which is quite cool and a bunch of hippy shops which weren't that great. Glastonbury is supposedly the place where Joseph of Arimethea (yep, Jesus dad) planted the holy thorn for some reason as he was in England spreading the word of the lord. Every year they give a cutting from this bush to the queen to use a a Christmas decoration as every year the flower blooms on January 5th. Now this doesn't seem impressive but this date is according to the Gregorian calendar (our current calendar) but according to the ye olde times calendar (the Julian calendar) this was Christmas day (December 25th, do I have to explain everything!!). Weird hey. Anyhoo, we went to Bath after that and after refusing to pay the exorbitant entrance fees to the roman baths, we went wandering this beautiful Georgian town. We saw the abbey and the rugby ground and some shops, that's the end of Bath. We then finished the day in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, where we had a quick wander round (saw Millennium Stadium, it's pretty big) and then went back to the hotel to get changed for our Welsh night out. This was good for two reasons , 1) the performers were brilliant and the girls were easy on the eye and 2) I didn't get picked for audience participation. Also the food was good and the only bloke performing was a dead spit for Mike Hussey (it was spot on!). So all in all a great time in Wales and the West Counties in England but we are off to Ireland next so bring on the Guinness and all things Gaelic.
