"Ach me Jim lad". Not a phrase I've heard yet, although I've hardly heard to many Scottish accents yet either. The first thing we stopped at yesterday was Loch Lomond, the biggest Loch I'm Scotland. It is 24 miles long and has no monsters in it. We then passed through Glen Coe where the massacre of the MacDonald clan happened in 1692. We then had a stop in Fort William to see the commando memorial and also Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain. We had one more quick stop before lunch and that was the big attraction of Scotland. Loch Ness. Yes, we did see the monster, it was made of concrete or something and now we have about 6 or 7 Nessie toys floating around the bus (including Sally's). The Loch itself is very tranquil and is very deep. There are parts of the Loch that are deeper than the North Sea which adds to the mystery of Nessie I guess. Our lunch stop was in Cullochden on the battlefield where the Jacobites (supporters of the deposed King James) and there enemies had a big battle which shaped the course of Scottish history. The stop for the night was in Aviemore, a 60's ski resort that has seen better days. The town itself is just a town really and the highlight was that there was an Australian restaurant! Gonna try and sneak in a round at St. Andrews today (not likely!) so we speak later.
