Boring arse day today. When I say boring it was still awesome and it was just a bus day. We left Lucerne unfeasibly early to try and avoid traffic and roadworks which are both notoriously bad in Germany. We were expected to arrive in Oberwesel for our cruise at 3:30 but as we didn't encounter any of those said problems we were there at 2:30. On the way to Oberwesel we had lunch outside Hockenheimring where they have the German Grand Prix. It just looked like a forest to me but I was assured that the track was behind us. We also past the famous Nurburgring after our boat trip but as was the case with Hockenheimring it was hidden by trees. So unfortunately there was no bus racing today (I'm sure Carmelo our driver would have loved to) just more autobahn, which despite the stories does have a speed limit (it's around 130km/h). As u mentioned earlier we arrived at our destination at 2:30 which gave us a chance to go shopping for the one thing I really wanted on this trip, a stein. I think I got a beauty but only time will tell. From Oberwesel we took a cruise down the Rhine River past lots of castles and a memorial and statue of some chick called Loreley (pronounced LO-RA-LIE) who jumped who jumped of a cliff and then turned into a mermaid or some crap like that. Also all the entrances to train tunnels in this area are built to look like castle walls as there was an agreement in WWII that all buildings with historical value would be spared from being bombed. Of course Hitler seized on this and implemented this idea to try and protect his railway. We then had an uneventful drive to our current destination at an airport holiday inn. We are off to Amsterdam tomorrow for the last stop on continental Europe for this tour and with this group there could be shenanigans. Stay tuned.
