Wellity wellity wellity, SO much has happened since I last updated this. First things first Sally and I feel asleep out first night in London at 5pm and awoke about 12 hours later, not a great start to adjusting our body clocks! So yesterday we had breakfast and got on our bus to drive to Dover to catch the ferry to Calais. It took 2.5 hours to get to Dover (if we caught the train to Paris it would've taken this long) but it is amazing once you get there because the land just runs out and there are magnificent white cliffs in it's place. We got on the ferry and secured a couple of seats on the outside deck and had a few bulmers pears while we chugged our way to the continent. While doing this we met a lovely newlywed couple from Canada who were on there honeymoon, we exchanged stories about our hometowns and they seemed genuinely excited about seeing sand and water! We then arrived in Calais got on our bus (sans our new friends unfortunately) and headed the 4 HOURS down the motorway to Paris. On the way we past through the valley of the Somme which was weird as there didn't seem to be to many signs that a major battle had been fought here except for a few cemeteries. We arrived in Paris at 8pm after passing a few sports stadiums (Stade de France, where the 98' World Cup Final was held as well as some rugby teams home patch) and not much else, checked in and promptly fell asleep again at around 10. Now bear with me here as I'm going to do a whole other blog about today. Read on folks

Kafra Sounds like you two are already having a great time and fitting alot in! However one has to wonder what sort of signs you were looking for at the valley of the Somme? Perhaps mummified bodies stratigically placed and deep trenches surrounded by barbed wire?? :p
birgit nice to have you in Europe
