Hi Y'all. Today was the first full day in San Antonio. It began with a long lie, which was well earned after the long drive yesterday.
We left the room around 11 o'clock and headed for the Riverwalk Mall to find something to eat. There is a large food court there that will cater for everyone's tastes.
In the mall there is an
IMAX theatre showing a variety of films to see. We went to see the Alamo which tells the story of the battle of the Alamo in which the Mexicans took back the mission from the Americans and people like Davy Crockett and Jim Bouie died there. It wasn't all that good to be honest, the actors weren't good and the visual quality of the film is poor for IMAX.
After yesterday's slightly disappointing trolley tour we decided to take the red bus city sightseeing tour which was good. it advertises the bus is an original classic english 'Harry potter' bus. There is no air conditioning on board but there is plenty of free water.
Having completed all just about all the tours available in San Antonio, we went back to the room then I went out to have a look round the shops and to pick up a few souvenirs. Three are some good shops in and around the mall.
After feeling satisfied that I had everything I wanted I headed back to te hotel to figure out what was for dinner. The choice for tonight was the rotating restaurant at the top only the Tower of the Americas. This restaurant is a high class restaurant and you can expect to pay around $100 for 2 people for a meal but it is well worth trying as the food in excellent. I had and East meets West Tuna tatar with plantain chips and then I had the seafood platter which gad coconut shrimp, lobster tail, fish and chips and calamari.
After that we were feeling full and satisfied so we went up to the observation deck for a look over the city. This lets you see everywhere and is worth a look. It is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Later on, after it had cooled down a whole whack after it being 103 degrees, I went for a long swim at the hotel pool till the lights went off.
Tomorrow we are going to Sea World. Watch this space to fond out what it's like. That's all for now, I will write again tomorrow.
