Arrived in Franz Josef after taking a tour around a cute museum/farm called the Bushman centre. We saw pigs, eels, and possums which were very cute - shame about the possum pie in the cafe - NO JOKE! :( We learnt how deer were caught by kiwi's jumping out of planes - MENTAL! This is how all the deer farms in NZ were started. At Franz Josef we went straight away to do a glacier walk and heli hike - AMAZING! Bennett nearly wet herself she was so excited! :) T...

On the way to Lake Mahinapua - the destination of our party night with the whole of our Kiwi bus - we ended up stopping off to see some pancake rocks and blow holes. Funnily enough the rocks look like pancakes layered on each other! Lake Mahinapua was literally in the middle of nowhere so what can we say - abs nothing to do apart from dress up in fancy dress and get drunk at a small motel owned by the funniest old man called Les who looked like father christmas. ...

We arrived in Westport just in time to take part in our first ever Jet boating experience! Got kitted out in more sexy outfits and headed out to the Buller Gorge river. A jet boat is powered by a set of turbines that suck up the water and suck it out with lots of force allowing it to go fast, steam through very shallow water and do cool maneourvres like 360 spins etc etc. It was lots of fun and we all got v wet (B and D managed to get most of the soakings as they...

Our first day in the NZ capital was spent at possibly the most interesting museum we have ever been too - Te Papa - lots of games for the immature kates to play and made learning lots of fun. We then headed to the cable care and visited the botanical gardens and rose garden. We took pictures of the amazing view at the highest point - this place has to be the windiest place in NZ! Onwards to River Valley, a beautiful scenic lodge where we spent one night. Our first evening was spent in the outside hot tub overlooking the river and a lovely waterfall. Thye following day we were up and back in our sexy wetsuits complete with fleeces and off to start our white water rafting adventure.
