Today, we're back off to Melbourne. First thing we had to do was drop the campervan off, and I must admit that I feel a little sad to be leaving. Tasmania really is an island with a little of everything. Open grasslands in the centre, dense rainforests to the west, and beautiful beaches to the east. Something to offer everyone. Today, we're back in the same national Park as Cradle Mountain, only down at the southern end. Again, very pretty with lakes and mountains and forests, and we head off on a two hour walk that takes us through the forest, and back alongside the lake. Nothing to report, it's just a very pretty place.

Today, we're up early for a cruise along the Gordon Murray. It's $85 well spent. First, we head out of the harbour, through one of the world's narrowest harbour entrances, Hell's Gates, and into the open ocean, and the roaring 40s. Massive winds, and even though the waves aren't big, the 38 foot catarmaran is still thrown around. The captain tells us he's encountered 25m high waves out here. Cradle Valley National Park is 168,000 hectares of World Heritage parkland, full of lakes, mountains, and forests. We take a couple of hours to have a walk around Dove Lake, on of Tasmania's best short walks, which gives great views across the water, as well as off the mountains. Mole Creek: a tiny little village. The only real point of interest are some caves: King Solomon's, and Marakoopa. Unfortunately, the weather as taken it's toll on Marakoopa, and caused a land slide that was made access difficult, so the caves are currently closed.
