Today, we wandered around Launceston. Must admit, that as it's Australia Day, everything is closed, so we headed up to Cataract Gorge, which is only minutes away from the city/town centre. Great place. Massive park land, and a lake you can swim in, all surrounded by the gorge. It wasn't even that busy. As we leave St Helens, we make a quick detour to sea the Bay of Fires. Basically, an bay where all the rocks are covered in red lichen that makes them look ablaze. Unfortunately, it was a little overcast, so the effect was kind of lost on us. Next stop, was St Columbia falls, Tasmania's highest waterfall. Very pretty. On the way back to the highway, we pulled over to feed a pig some beer.

Today, I nearly made Jacklyn cry...by taking her sea kyaking. We took a half day guided tour around Freycinet Bay, and had to paddle out over some massive waves in some incredible wind. Hard work, but great fun once we rounded the corner and had the current and wind behind us. The tour around the bay was nice and easy, and we saw some great view, but the journey back had to be cut short because the wind and current was just too much for the group. We paddle...

Today, we head to the Freycinet Peninsula, to walk to Wineglass Bay. Supposedly one of the prettiest beaches in the world. The first thing we're met with in the car park, is a friendly wallaby. Must be used to people in this part of the world. So, we head off on the walk. More wallabies on route, and we hit the beach. It's pretty, that's for sure. Awesome way to start the morning. Staring out the van window across Fortescue Bay. There is no better wake up in the world than the fresh air and quiet lapping of waves.
