From CNP I travelled north to Emerald, where I turned east towards the coast. This inland area is full of open cut coal mines, so you get lots of very long trains, and a couple of big power stations.
Travelling through Rockhampton to the coast of Yeppoon. Here I stayed for 5 days just to relax and clean up. The caravan park is opposite Causeway Lake, but just walk around to corner and you are on the beach, all be it black sand and hundreds of tiny crabs.
Moving north again past Mckay to Airlie Beach. This was travelling towards the mountains and then into sugar cane country. This is such a beautiful area. Along the highway there are all these signs to keep you alert. Like "What is Q'land national flower?" but the ones I like the most was for the children. "Are we there yet?" etc. Coming to Airlie Beach is a bit of a nostalgia trip as we departed from here when we sailed the Whitsunday so I intend to spend about a week here.
