BIG DISAPOINTMENT I didn't get to Africa, but never mind I have seen a lot more of Q'ld. With Rob & Marge's local knowledge, they have taken me to lovely pincins in the mountains. Once up to Sommerset Dam and then on to Mt. Glorious, where we did a lovely walk through the forrest. Another day we went to Queen Mary Falls, and then had a great drive through the mountains to home (450 km). I had a day in Crows Nest N. P. with more walks. The weather during the days have been beautiful so good for picnics but the are cold.
This week I took myself off to the coast having a couple of nights at Rainbow Beach a pretty little spot and then on to Hervey Bay. Boy what a spread out town. Someone said it just grow without and planing and they are right. Anyway I stayed in a lovely Resort with my cabin overlooking a lake area which was very relaxing. Thursday I went out whale watching, WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. We travelled for about 40 mins out into the bay whilst having breakfast before we came across the first pod of whales, however they were not surfacing very much so we moved on. Then there were 4 large whales which just circled our boat for about half on hour. They had great fun playing with us. At times they were so close they were touching the boat. When they decided to go and have a look at another boat we moved further out and come across another pod. This time we had 5 whales entertaining us. By this time it was time for us to head back so we called in another boat to take them away from us as they can't move the boats if the whales are about them. Eventually they moved over to the other boat and we slowly backed way.
Now I'm back in Toowoomba and packing up the caravan to start my journey south. Rob & Marge are coming in their car with a tent, so I will have company for awhile. The first couple of weeks we will spent in the N.P. doing more mountain climbing. Anyway I will be back on my blog again.
