Will-and-Marge's Great Adventure to Alaska
FYI - When we leave tomorrow, we will NOT have any regular communications or internet for at least 4-5 days. We will continue to write a blog and publish multiple days when we have internet again. We will see you next from the Yukon Territory, Ca
We will have a Satellite Communicator for any emergency.
Temp: 40 degrees AM High 58
Province today: British Columbia
Saying for the day: Don't stumble over something behind you.
A cloudy and very chilly morning. Time to pull out the really warm clothes! It was good that we didn’t stay at Pink Mtn. yesterday like we thought we might, they got snowed in overnight. We would still be there now.
We met some folks at the Laundromat who are from the Northwest Territory, and told us how wonderful Muncho Lake is, our next stop. They thought it was really 'wild’ that we were from "way down" in Georgia. The woman looked very much like an Inuit.
We stopped in at the Welcome Center, so many nice people and lots of information.
We visited the Fort Nelson Heritage Museum in the afternoon and saw some wonderful artifacts and animals. A really great tour and a terrific tour guide named Carly. Don’t miss the pics today. And sorry, Bob Nelson, Fort Nelson was named after General Nelson who led a “skirmish” they had here years ago and he was British!
We needed a couple onions, so we stopped at the local IGA store and when we checked out the woman was trying to scan the tab on the onion and she said something that didn’t sound right. She was saying the name of the onion – Vidalia, but it didn’t come out that way. We told her how it’s pronounced. Surprised, to say the least, that they had them here for sale. They came a LONG way.
How long staying: 1 more night.
Next Muncho Lake, British Columbia

June Chamberlin Finally! Okay, you can come home now. (He doesn't look at all like moose I've seen in photos. He's almost white! Is that typical, or is he an anomalie?)
June Chamberlin I remember my grandmother using one similar to this with the wringer on top. It was all the modern rage!
June Chamberlin There's my Mountie! Put a stamp on him, and send him home!
June Chamberlin What is that John Deere? It doesn't look like any tractor I've ever seen! (It looks kinda like a shark, with that seat in front of it like that...)
June Chamberlin Okay, Marge, does this cabin make you think of any of our MoW houses?
June Chamberlin Wow! Loved all the pics! What an interesting place, would love to know more about the museum. Do they have a brochure? What a neat, surprising find that was for you. Great that you had a guide, too! Sorry no shopping for you, Marge.
Jan Chamberlin WOW! Lots of fabulous pics!! Good timing on the snow! Can't wait to see the catch-up post in a few days. Be safe- and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! xoxojc
Robert Chamberlin Great pictures! Looks like the Heritage Museum is a great place! And, ah...the old pump organ. I have played a number of pump organs similar to the one you saw. Great exercise for the legs! Enjoy the next leg while you are out of internet connection. You'll have lots to tell once you get back online.
Mary Parsley I would not like to go back to those good old days! Too much work!
Charly Boone What a great museum Love all the cars and motorcycle
Charlie Layne You should trade them for the truck in the last slid to continue your trip. I'll take the old Harley. Have fun!!!!
Margaret Bonawitz /Great pics. Have a Happy Mother's day/
Steve Townsend Outstanding, guys! This is better than a tv documentary!
