Fort Nelson? Bob, Mary???
Miles to this Stop: 300
Time Leaving: 8:45 a.m. Temp: 45 degrees High 70
Province today: British Columbia
Accrued miles to Date: 3512
Saying for the day: What matters most is how you see yourself.
Very overcast and rainy looking today and we're supposed to get rain at some point too.
A major terrain feature in our first hour of driving was the Peace River, a pretty, water churning river with a long bridge across it. It's a large and impressive waterway with a very steep ascent and descent to and from it.
We're beginning to see dense stands of Birch and Spruce trees and some snow patches on the side of the road.
It's interesting to see so many oil fields and the "camps" (Large modular facilities) for the men to bunk in for the duration of their stay. There are also many signs along the highway for all of the oil fields.
We're still seeing moose crossings, but no moose yet. We did stop for gas at Fort. St. John and then turned on the radio and it was tuned into "Moose FM" Really!
Sad to see, a dead elk on the side of the road… And later on, a dead deer.
Next stop will be Pink Mountain, so named from the local Fall foliage, when the red barked willows give the mountain a pink hue in the morning sun. Another source attributes the pink color of the mountains to the concentration of feldspar.
Snow covered Northern Canadian Rockies are also coming into view, up close and personal.
Arrive Fort Nelson at 2:20 pm, Pacific Time now. I'll be in bed by 7 pm. Lol - Triple G Campground
How long staying: 2 nights

Will Mitchell A patio permit allows restaurants and cafés to have outdoor patio seating surrounded by a railing or other boundary. This permit is required to serve beer/wine.The permit is valid from April 1 to October 31 (summer term) each year, and may be renewed annually. It may also be extended through the winter term, November 1 to March 31. Separate fees apply for each term.
Bill Not sure on the comfort factor there.
