Day 29:
Yesterday afternoon we also partook of an fruit ice cream thing, just to check them out of course. Wally had a Sapote, which is a chocolate pudding persimmon variety, covered in chocolate naturally, and I had a dragonfruit iceblock. Fairly tasteless I thought but we do have to try new things.
Today, we decided to drive out to the Blowholes about 65 kms from town. Over the Gascoyne River again but on a different bridge, we would like to know if you ever do see water on top. The day was fairly horrible so no picnic taken but we did drive by Bumbacks which is an orchard that also does relishes and you know how Wally relishes relish. I think a Pumpkin Mango one as well as a Mango Ginger concoction now live in our van. Not to be taken home apparently, wondering if one will come out at dinner to be enjoyed with roast lamb. So off we toddled to the Blowholes and they were spectacular particularly with the wind blowing, bit difficult to stand on the rocks and not be buffeted. Some nice pictures but you had to guess when they were going to go off. A lot of campers around the point, slightly protected from wind but what a desolate spot but also beautiful.
Back to town and guess what we had to stop at Bumbacks again to partake of another variety of icecream. Mango cheek covered in chocolate with hazelnuts, hmmmm not at all bad that one.
Carnarvon is not the best place for cafes, all do fried food and a bit of Asian, all very similar so we ended up at the pub where 4 years ago we celebrated a wedding anniversary. Today just enjoyed lunch, I had the best mussels in chilli tomato sauce that I have ever had, a bit smokey flavour with lots of lemon. Erkits just had a fish burger and has complained ever since as he shouldn't have eaten it. Gina is again full of food and fly spray (slight problem with them) and The Fonz is full of diesel ready for our trip south tomorrow.
