Day 10:
Horse neighing outside our van woke us this morning rather than kookaburras - much more peaceful sound for an alarm clock. Still windy but a bit of a different direction. Gone by 7:45 and on the road and down onto the plains below Eucla for a long day in the saddle. Behind sure does go numb after a while. Stopped at Madura Pass for morning tea, this is where we headed back onto the plateau but we did get into trouble where we parked our van. Only spot that didn't have a No Parking sign we thought was good but apparently the road trains turn near there and could wipe us out so we moved on. Caiguna for lunch where we partook of someone else's cooking ie burgers and they were good. From Caiguna the road is then the straightest, longest piece of roadway in Australia, all 90 miles of it or 146.8 kms of it and it is so boring. Not a living thing seen by either of us, except for the crows feeding on roadkill which was prolific, very erchhhhy. Crows must not know how to catch their own prey anymore they just live on the kill of the road all their lives. Eventually got to turn a corner after unlocking Wally's arms and travelled onto Balladonia. Those with our schedule will see we are off track but are picking up an extra night in Kalgoorlie. Over 580 kms today and we are exhausted. Although Father's Day and there is a restaurant at this roadhouse we are going to dine in with a nice bottle of wine (Banrock Station - Gail, so we will toast you also).
We have filled up with diesel three times today, fuel companies love nomads with caravans. Our economy has been rather high at 20litres per 100 although we are usually at 16 - we are blaming the wind and hope on our way back at least we will have a tail wind so will be better.
Not many pictures today but these were it.
Love and hugs to those that care. xxx And a happy father's day to all that are in every sense of the word. And to my favourite man as always many hugs particularly if it is cold tonight. xxx
