Day 5: On leaving Morgan we headed again west thru lots and lots of kilometres of silvery grey saltbush as far as we can see with bright yellow gorse bush lining the roadsides. We started seeing emu amongst the saltbush very difficult to spot although you would not think so. Conversation going on…. with is that an emu, no it's a rock, no emu, no I am sure it's a rock when the 'rock' lifts its head with a supercilious look with a 'to whom are you referring'. Then started to see multiple rock formations but half of them moved a bit so they were definitely sheep, which are not a a grey dirt colour but a pretty golden caramel, as in rock colour mixed with the red soil of the region. We are definitely in South Australia with the crumbling old stone houses of days gone by and the beautiful green fuzzy hills. We stopped at his favourite coffee shop in Burra - not open on Tuesdays again, this has happened on a previous trip/s. So, we had a Tiggy Oggy at another little café surrounded by books and antiques. Tiggy Oggies we found out are the original Cornish pasty. Two thirds meat pasty and one third sweet as in apple. Served with both tomato sauce and cream for which ever end was being enjoyed.
Off from Burra towards Peterborough and the distant hills of the Flinders Ranges, beautiful sight always and the sky is clearing. Peterborough lovely town where we have stayed before and will again, very popular for steam train enthusiasts. Ororoo was our stop for lunch, a tiny town not much used but we found an Apex park down beside a golf course and historical water course. Enjoyed fresh rolls with pork, lettuce and chutney which the geese decided would be far greater use to them, they ended up driving us inside the van to eat. Went on a 3.5 km walk that may have been great 30 years ago when constructed and we got as far as we could before it became machete country and had to turn back. Magnificent country surrounds and just could not get a photo to show any of it in a shot. Continued on thru Wilmington and then onto Quorn where we have stayed before although Wally was so obstinate that we hadn't, two weeks of arguing with him that we had and until pulling in to the drive and then he remembered…really says I and demanded a full and comprehensive apology. Quorn is the town of the Ritchi Pitchi Railway and as I type I can hear the train in the town - historical. If we had known it was coming in we would have walked up to see but next time maybe.
Another cold evening expected but the days looking better. Crystal clear and beautiful.
Love and hugs.xxxx

Kim Hayes You are certainly covering some distance quickly. The weather has definitely started to warm a little so let's hope for sunshine and blue sky's in the coming weeks. Today's sum is super easy.
Jr My god you two are already crazy but the banter....
