Day 8:
We have decided our new occupation in life: to go where required to break the drought. Third time I have been on the Nullarbor and third time of rain. We had horrendous sideway winds on leaving Wudinna and this seriously affects the fuel consumption. Not terribly pleasant at all.
So, on leaving Cedunna we asked Sam the directions to Kalgoorlie, our next big stop. Turn left in 1198 kms - so there is the Nullarbor, straight roads for ever. We did pull up in Cedunna behind a van from South Nowra and the couple were from Mittagong on their last week of 3 months rather than us one week in of our time.
Flash back of the worst kind. Seven years ago, on our way westwards we stopped the night at Nundroo, 230kms west of Ceduna. At the time, it was the worst place we have ever stayed in, toilet facilities deplorable, huge violent sounding domestic happening at 2 am outside the gates on the highway but they were building new facilities. Well, guess what now it is even worse, falling down wreck of a place and no facilities different from then. One toilet for all, luckily, we are the only ones in at the moment so that is a bonus. The only other alternative is to drive another 200 km and we have already done 400, way too far for the old boy. We have no water, no internet or tv reception and full of flies. So very pleasant. Erchh. Four more vans arrived and so not so good.
Will post when I can. X
