Day 60:
Train shunting late at night into the morning hours not so good and the external light from our ensuite could not be turned off so it was like daylight inside our van for the evening so a tossing and turning evening. Headed off at our usual time and turned south, we are going up and down peninsulas more than a brides nightie. So, from the top of the Eyre Peninsula down to Adelaide. We travelled thru many many kilometres of wheat fields but unlike WA these are ready for harvesting so the whole landscape was a yellow gold colour. Sky was black with threatening rain and fairly windy but in a good direction for us. Stopped at Harrys Fine Foods 60 kms south of Port Augusta in the middle of nowhere but do have some good products. Crocodile souvlaki on the menu but it was only 9:30 so settle for a coffee and then spent $63 on pickled prawns and pickled octopus, pepperoni and some chutney for the addict. We stopped at Wakefield for a pie for lunch, 3 bakeries within a 100 metres and not much else so the choice was limited and we needed to eat prior to hitting the big smoke.
As we neared Adelaide the traffic increased and it became tighter for our width to fit in amongst the hundreds of trucks. The final 30 kms took us an hour to get through to the base of the Adelaide hills where we are staying in peace and tranquillity. We back onto a Grammar school but cannot see them but surrounded by bush, Peter the peacock has been spotted but it is raining so may not see much of him. Parked the van and headed out again to visit Glenelg. Why did he suggest that I wondered for about 2 seconds and thought it is 1:30 and he wants ice cream. He also wanted sushi and we walked the main street of Glenelg at least 4 times until he decided on both. Now back in the van and off to the Adelaide Markets tomorrow for a foodie trip. I hope someone nice goes into our house prior to our return and throws out the bathroom scales. Oh well we all only live once and we are enjoying our life so that is our excuse.
The photos are rather blerch but they were stunning with colour changes and I wanted to remember colours for some painting ideas. Take note of last night's site at PA (but utterly fabulous shower will go down as the best of the trip) to the site we have tonight - same cost also.
