Today we slept in a bit despite the room's alarm clock going off at a minute past midnight just as we were nodding off to sleep. We still can't work out how to turn it off so we set it for 10am so it'll only annoy housekeeping as it launches into an electronic version of "We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year".
We had breakfast at the hotel which wasn't too bad and then realised we had taken our Myki card instead of the room keycard. Much like in Melbourne, Myki doesn't work at the Novotel in Bangkok. So, back down to reception to get a new keycard so we could get into the room. After three attempts we got across to the girl at reception that we weren't asking about whether our breakfast was included in our rate we finally got a new keycard and got back onto our room.
We then got ready and walked to the Pratunam Market which was nearby. Bought a few things and then went to a shopping centre near the hotel for lunch. We had a rest at the hotel
then caught the skytrain to the tailor we have bought shirts from for a few years now.
Back to the hotel for a rest then out to dinner at a place recommended in the Lonely Planet guide. It was short walk from the hotel and the directions were easy enough to follow to get there. Sadly, Lonely Planet's map icon placer had an off-day at the office and decided to put the icon for the restaurant on the map a block further away than it was meaning we walked all the way to the end of the street we thought the restaurant was on and didn't see it. We ended up at another shopping centre called MBK which has a two level food court.
We went to the 5th floor food court, they give you a card on entry and when you buy food from one of the stalls they put a charge on the card. When you leave you pay the balance on the card. The food was good and cheap so we might go back another night.
After dinner we walked back to the hotel a different way and stumbled upon the restaurant we were originally looking for. On the same street as our hotel as it turns out!
