Day 18
Shine on you crazy George
Got an early start this morning from Tok (and No, Denise, theres no town next to it called Tick, but I did find that amusing) It was cold, but thankfully sunny, actually No rain at all today...let me re-type that since it seldoms happens. NO RAIN TODAY!!!!!!
I rode off SW to the border and the Yukon, BACK down the road I road up with the speedweenies about 4 or 5 days ago in the rain mind you. The ride was mostly boring, but thankfully I had Pink Floyd playing on the ipod all day, and totally zoned out to its awesomeness.
I thought about 2 major things today. Those being the things You can live without, and things that you are do-ing without.
Live without = TV, new movies, video games, current affairs. things of this nature have no bearing on my life what-so-ever.
Doing without = band/music, friends, Kiwi, Ashley, Lilly & family
So I thought.... its cool to be able to live life and live without these things (from list one) but on the other hand, it sux to DO without the others. Which for the exception of music/band its all loved ones.
Now, I know those things in list 2 will always be there for me when I get back, and thats pretty awesome, even though its very hard to be away from them. I often dream about them all. friends....family....doing gigs with the band. Ya know Matt...its not too late for you guys to come join me on the road and we can all gig out here!!
the whole concept of time is non-existant out here. Other then what time you think you are rolling into town that day. And even that, is up to subject to change without notice.
You live day to day, hour to hour and time is pretty fleeting to some degree. You don't care when you get to any given place, you just know that you will eventually get there, and if you don't for some reason....who cares? Being free with no time limit to do anything, is definitely a high point on this journey.
I rolled into Whitehorse, Yukon. Got a hotel room, and then wandered down to the bar/resteraunt to order food and drink some Yukon gold (great local beer) In the bar, were an Aussie, a Kiwi (new zealander) and a couple from Tasmania. How awesome is that? and in Canada of all places. I love the people I meet on this trip. All walks of life, doing their own thing. Kind of like myself. That alone makes things cool.
392 miles today
5,658 total miles
The bike is running great, and (knocking wood) the oil leak seems to have stopped...VERY odd, but not complaining, although still keeping an eye on it. Tomorrow I continue riding South back into BC. Looking fwd to warmner weather.
