Howdy readers...
In 9 days I will be off on the next leg of my adventure across this great big world we all live on. I've been spending the past month just planning this next leg. LOTS OF PLANNING. So much in fact that it made my head spin on a daily basis and wondering "is all this planning really neccessary." Well, unfortunately or fortunately it is.
I am leaving Tuesday March 2nd and flying a short flight west to LAX where I have a nice long 4 hour layover. Then I fly west over the Pacific Ocean to Sydney Australia. Which will at that moment in my life be THE farthest point away from "home" that I've ever traveled. COOL! Sadly, I wish I was going to be staying in Australia for some time, BUT that section of my trip will have to wait for another time. Sad face
After about another 4 hour layover and losing an ENTIRE DAY, then I fly SE to Auckland, New Zealand which is where my journey continues.
New Zealand for those of you that arent familiar is a smaller Country south of Australia in the SW pacific Ocean made up of 2 islands (The North & the South) It's a relatively newer country (compared to all the others) and is a very green country as well as being a nuclear free country. It is also home of the indigenous people known as the Maori and of course where the Lord of the rings triology was made which should help a lot of you with how epic the scenery of New Zealand is..... They also drive on the wrong side of the road there. That's going to be ...fun!
It's also a good day ahead of us Americans and since it's just about THE polar oppositte of us. it's their summer now. Technically it will be starting Autumn when I arrive.
So... After a lot of flights to get there. I will have one day to chill and get a bit aclimated, then I head to the bike shop to pick up my rental motorbike. A Honda shadow 750, very similar to mine, but eqipped with a windshield (I know Bobby and Suede will be happy) and also lockable waterproof hard luggage. AWESOME! I have to pack pretty light and sadly won't be bringing the guitar on this trip. Maybe I can track one down there.
I originally hoped to ship my own bike to NZ, but the price I got was looking at over $3,000 and that was just ONE WAY! F-that! So, renting is A LOT cheaper, and I'm renting from this Great company: Te Waipounamu Motorcycle (www.motorcycle-hore.co.nz/tour_3w_d.html) A bunch of great guys there that were REALLY accomodating for my trip. I can't stress enough how great they all are there.
OK, so this blog is just a bunch of facts I guess. Nothing too exciting, but hell..the NZ excitement has yet to begin.
I'll try to update everynight there with tons of pictures and videos as well. I Do know that my trip will include Beautiful beaches, super windy roads, 2 ferry crossings, hot springs, zorbing, lots of Lord of the rings locations, volcanoes, lots of national parks, Ice glaciers, fiorlands, massive lakes, HUGE mountains, and tons of wildlife including whales, seals and even penguins!
Zorbing is a NZ thing, where apparently you roll down a huge hill in a HUGE ball. AWESOME! Look it up!
Also, Ashley will be joining me for the last 7 days in the South island for her spring break. So That will be exciting too!
I've updated the map on here, if any of you want to see a basic idea of where I am going. If not, then just settle back and chill out, and in about a week, I will start blogging this adventure trip.
I CANT FREAKING WAIT!!!!!!!
New Zealand here I come!!!
