Day 13
Al needs new jokes or I really will murder him in his sleep...
We woke up to (you guessed it) RAIN!
REALLY? sigh...
Thankfull it was on it's way out. Bout time too. My clothes and shoes were not fully dry from the previous raining.
I actually even dreamt of snow last night. Not JUST snow but riding our motorbikes through snow. I kid you not. This weather is wearing on not only me but my mind too.
We rode south down the coast, and WOW, the rain stopped and we saw some really amazing coastal scenery here in Southern Oregon. The PCH is amazingly beautiful, and the the west coast ocean is just beautiful.
We continued south into California, and hit a few pockets of rain here and there, then all of a sudden got SLAMMED with a soaking of rain. F-this, I said, and we pulled into a BK to get out of the rain and grab a quick lunch.
Today was also Suedes birthday. So I got to talk to him on the phone, which was totally cool. though bummed I didnt get to see him or Bobby during this trip. Huge sigh. He also rode home in crazy pouring rain as well last night. But thankfully made it home in one piece. It was great talking to him, and Nancy too. They're such cool people, and I cannot wait to see them both again. (FLY EAST!!!!!!)
Anyway, the rain stopped and we rode south into the Redwoods. WOW!!!!! Totally amazing! These trees were just EPIC! I took tons of pics and should be uploading them tonight. There was also this really cool fog still hovering around the area which really made the whole redwood forest look even cooler. Almost as if Elves were going to be marching by on horseback off in the distance. Such a cool time there. We also saw an overturned car, who more then likely was driving like an ass, since there are tons of people driving their cars like that. Al and I almost got clipped by one s*** for brains in the redwoods. UGH!!! When will people learn to watch for motorcycles?
So, the rest of the ride South was to Ferndale, California, a little victorian style town near the ocean, though it was time to wave goodbye to the coast and the Pacific Ocean, and head east. Sad to know that I wont be seeing any more oceans on this trip.
We rode east on route 36 which was INCREDIBLE! The sun was now out and the ride on 36 was all twists and turns though forests and Mountains. I think we asscended up to 3,000 feet for a good few hours, then 75 miles down the mtn to where we are now in Red Bluff, Ca. The last 20 miles were the best. all hills and quick bends just like a rollercoaster, and at about 65mph, it kicked ass! The weird part was about halfway through we found THE only gas station in the middle of no-where! It was filled with a bunch of Good ole boys dressed up in matching camoflough outfits, all hunters. all queer looking, and talking all southern...totally weird!
Tomorrow we ride east to lassen Volcanic park, and then SE to Reno. and best part? All in sun!
307 miles today
3,164 total miles
time to upload a bunch of pics and videos
miss you all
