...first actual sleep in this morning to be awoken by the Old church bell chiming 10am! I bet the local Priest is actually pulling the rope himself as in Mykonos Town!
The views in Santorini are absolutely breathtaking. It is exactly like the pictures you see in books and magazines, only better!
The great thing about writing a blog is that I'll have some recognition and remembrance of all the moments I have and continue to experience, it takes 10 minutes out of a day (rather than the usual all day on and off) and I feel like I'm actually traveling with friends! In fact, that's the main one: where as you used to feel quite isolated traveling solo you can now feel connected throughout.
And, even better, no need to go through the trip back home as those interested can live in the moment too!
It is 27 degrees with a beautiful sea breeze and two cruise ships and a lovely old fashioned sailing boat resting in the harbour way down below the cafe I am in which jutts out over the cliff face! This always reminds me there is no price for this type of experience!
If you can ever get a chance to come to one of these Islands just do it! It doesn't have to be expensive. In a nutshell, I'm paying average $150 a night so my accommodation is basic, clean and I have kindly asked all my hosts in advance for a room with views (and preferably a little balcony with table and chairs for nighttime Retsina) and in every case they have obliged! The hosts of these places are so lovely and kind hearted! Sure! There are Villas with flowing curtains surrounding the entrance, private spas, pools under your bed (well...) and such and if that's your thing go for it. But, the experience would be no better, in fact, probably less rich and authentic!
Just remember, there's no monetry value to place on an experience of a lifetime; one that will stay in your heart and soul right up until your final breath! ...you can't hold and touch it with your hands but inside your heart forever!
