'...Hello Wall..."

Very Shirley Valentine day today.

Literally been staring at the hospital walls and ceiling all day.

Arrived at 11am and the doctor actually saw me straight away. I was extremely surprised about that! Maryborough could learn a thing or two hey Mum and Dad? The doctor was very friendly and attentive. Very laid back however

Took my blood pressure potassium and fluid levels, everything was wrong. Diagnosed food poisoning and stomach bug...So he admitted me then and there and I've been lying on bed in room having Intravenous drips all day! Not to mention 4 slices of hard bread and a cup of black tea. And tonight my most gourmet meal (six) so far: cold boiled potatoes and steamed rice! To be honest I was so hangry I enjoyed it heaps!

Was up most of last night with multiple problems and didn't get much sleep. Needless to say I'm feeling pretty zonked. But better! Less toilet visits after 5 Intravenous litres.

On the bright side: I was looking for something to fill in my last days here, I'll save money on food and drink and bloody shows Travel Insurance is an absolute must! All up this day in hospital cost me €1,100 ($1,700AUD). You just never know! Although I couldn't get through on the number on my travel insurance information card! Not a good start! It was interesting being in that frustrating position as a consumer. I'll certainly be following that furphy up when back!
(Gee, perhaps I can claim part of the trip on tax: research for worthiness of RACV travel products (I know that's how it works for some!)

Couple more tips: Check ice (in Frappe for example) is frozen bottle, not tap water! And eat at busy places! We, in Australia should truly appreciate how lucky we have it!

Let's hope a couple days R&R will have me ready for the next leg: Tuscany!

PS: the hospital reminds me of the Bedrock Hospital in The Flintstones!
