An email from family,Maitland and Margaret Davey, arrives and blows the leaves of the past into the present thought processes.
Konnongorring tennis club is having a reunion to celebrate 30 years since the old corrugated iron shed was upgraded to a very usable club rooms. The pavilion was joint purpose used by the tennis, footy, hockey and cricket clubs. Konno at one time also boasted golf and basketball clubs, but alas the only survivor is the tennis club making this reunion far more poignant.
This is Avan's growing up place and he had been an active member of most sports on offer as a child and teenager.
The format for the day was a pairs round robin of 17 minutes a game. Partners changed for each game with five games being played. The number of games won were aggregated for each player to determine the winners. The overall winner was a girl named Rachael (I think!) - a very adept tennis player who also happened to be pregnant. Avan was happy to be an equal something runner up.
Attendees provided their own lunch, but were treated to a traditional country afternoon tea (you will know what I mean if you have ever experienced country hospitality!!) and an evening BBQ.
The organizers were very pleased with the attendance (around 100) and all enjoyed the catch up with past friends and family.
