Hi,
Have posted some pictures of our family gathering up north at new year. A family dinner on New Year's Day has always been a tradition over the years, but with the parents moving to Inverness in may this year was always going to be a bit different...
We managed to rent a cottage on Dalmagarry Farm, which has a strong family connection. My mother's uncle Andrew MacQueen bought the farm in 1908, so amazingly our first new year up north coincided with the centenary of it's purchase. Lying right beside the A9 just 14 or so miles south from Inverness, it is reputed to have been an inn at one stage and is allegedly the site where the spiritual anecdote known as 'The Highland Kitchen Maid' took place. When my mother was a child, her father, John MacQueen used to rent the smaller cottage on the farm (called The Sheiling) for the summer holidays, so she has many happy childhood memories of the place.
Given these circumstances it was an ideal venue for our first family get together away from Glasgow since 1960! Apart from the NZ contingent, all other family members were present.I hope you enjoy the photos of this occasion.
All the best
Murdo
P.S. Added a pic of the four MacLean siblings met in Glasgow in February which was also on the same film.
