Today I have had a really nice day, just exploring around the Adelaide Hills with my friend Dave.
David who works in the Cafe with me is actually an animator and is working on a number of different projects at the moment hoping to get some published work. Apprently a lot of his work is fantasy etc, and to help with his illustrating he likes to get out and about every now and again to look for inspiration. This week he deicded he wanted to visit a small area called waterfall gully, and as we both had the day off he invited me along.
I find it funny, that Australia as a nation get very excited about their waterfalls which to most Europeans are really nothing special, i suppose when you are a nation in the midst of severe water shortage you have to hold on to what you have. The area was beautiful though, and very peacfull. As we are coming into winter now ( i have a hot water bottle every night) the colours on all the trees were changing and it was lovely to see the colours. So i took in the views whilst Dave snapped away with his camera ( uncle ewart style)..... i know you read this ewart and i think you may have met your match with you pictures of waterfalls. Turns out you can actually do a hike from waterfall gully up mount lofty via the cleeland wildlife sanctary, so i think that is something I will do with Sarah when she comes out. However we were feeling lazy so drove up to the summit of Mount Lofty, which provides superb views over the whole adelaide region.
We then went onto an area called Handorf a German town in in the Hills which is soooooooo random. It is full on Germany in the middle of Australia, i am talking bratfursts, saurkraught, borsque and german music. I felt like i was in epcot. Apparently the hills are full of German towns like it becuase the Germans were the first real settlers in Adelaide.
Anyway that is about all that I have donw this week. Things are slow at the moment which is frustrating for me. I really wanted to go out on the weekend, but unfortnatly nobody from work felt like it, so i had to settle for another night in with the dog. I am looking forward to Sarah coming out so that i will have some company to go out with.
Work is going well. It was very very busy on Satarday which was good but exhausting. Unfortunatly though like most cafes business is slow, so i am not getting as many hours as i would like :( however i do still have the chilcare work however i have not been needed this week. I think when i get back from the red centre I may look for evening work just to help keep up the funds, that way i will hopefully be able to do a few other trips before leaving adelaide. I am looking at maybe tazmania....we shall see.
thanks for reading
