I thought i had better write something now that I have been here for a week!
Well firstly I LOVE liveing with my cousins and even the dog! It is so chilled out and makes me realise how unrelazing my house in Melbourne was and things eem to be going well. ( I am saying this but my cousins are probably counting the days till i go) The house is in Semaphore which apparently is the lesbian capital of South Australia - so no chance of finding myself a nice ozzy bloke here! No its actaully a really ncie area and its like 5 minutes to the beach which is so quiet and relaxing and has a small high street with little cafes and things.
My first few days here Mel took off work which was really not necessary but appreciated all the same. The first day she took me to my new favourite place on earth- the central market, which is just amazing! It is the largest fresh produce market in Australia and you can get everything here! I am now one of these people who goes around with a little wooden basket and buys all fresh ingredients e.t.c and hates supermarkets! I dont actually have a wooden basket as yet but its on my list of things to buy when i havemoney. Mel and I seem to have a lot in common and spend most of the time we spend together talking about food - Sarah you will fit right in she's a health food chickpea addict too :) One of the best things about the market is the small cafes at the bottom end which are really arty and are the only place in Adelaide where its fun ( not scarry) to people watch. I have found my Adeliade equivelant of Degrave St as a brunch spot.
Those of you who i met in melbourne will know i was a pretty harsh critic of the City. Well don't worry i am the same for Adelaide..... Last Friday a friend of mine Daniel came down to Adeliade ( his home town ) for a weekend and invited me out for drinks. Well i have never seen such a selection fo random people in my life. ( not Dans friends i may add) but the vast majority of other people were very scarry. IN addition the public transport here is shocking. I have a totally new found respect for Newport Transport. Here the busses only run once and hour and the trains stop at midnight which makes an evening out in the city not very feasable, unless you drive. Not only that but the trains here seem to be the hang out of a lot of the weirdos i mentioned earlier. I wish to point out though- not everyone in Adeliade is weird just a lot!
Mel has also taken me on a drive along the coast up towards Victor Harbour which is a lovely drive. The towns are so clean, and its just really nice to drive between them and go for little walks along the beach etc. In general it's ncie to be outdoors.
I have however had some really sad news this week which i can't not mention. A really good friend of mine and perhaps the nicest guy i have ever met was killed in an accident on Fraser Island this week. It is such a tragedy, he hadbeen working for 3 months to save up a bit of money and then has just began his East Coast adventure when the accident happened. Another good friend of mine Carl who was invloved in the accident but thank god is not in a critical condition phoned to tell me just after he was dishcharged. Carl if you read this, Get well soon- and if you need anything you know whereI am. Ian was such a lovely guy, and i honestly can't believe I wont see him again. I think everyone from Ozintro will truley miss him. Just goes to show you never know what is around the corner.
Anyway thats all for now, i coninue the job hunt tomorrow.... wish me luck and speak soon
