What a shock! Niagara Falls is a lot more than just massive amounts of H20; I guess I was just expecting a massive waterfall with not much in the way of surroundings. The place itself seems like a ginormous glorified Butlins; well, what I can imagine Butlins to be like (not yet had the pleasure) and although that isn't everyone's cup of tea, we had the best day. With huuuuge arcades, haunted houses, pin bowling, a water park, dinosaur golf, outside karaoke and tonnes more; with hotdogs and sweets everywhere, the place is a kid's paradise. Yes, it was bit tacky but for the day out and about in the sunshine and on a boat for the Falls it was perfecto.
'The Horseshoe' is one of three viewing spots to see the Falls, being on the Canadian side of the boarder; whereas the other two ('American falls' and 'bridal veil falls') are on the U.S. side. Horseshoe falls is reviewed the best of the three having the highest flow rate and with a much better panoramic view, it looked by far the most popular; being able to wave to a few tourists on the other side. We treated ourselves to a boat ride which takes you right up close to the base of the falls, it was awesome. Both soaked right through: by what they call 'The maid of the mist', we were in fits of giggles giving up on trying to get photos- in the thick of it we were being flung every which way. So glad we got to experience this, its definitely a trip highlight for us.
