Chicago...AMAZING!! Possibly in joint first in the ranking stakes for my favourite city; I can't choose between Chicago and Vancouver, both with great atmospheres, loads to do and both with city and beach life right together; too hard, refuse to choose.
Staying on the outskirts of Chicago in Skoki; somewhere a bit safer for our couple nights stay, we try our luck at the public transport services into the downtown city; mainly to avoid Paul losing hair during the drive, and after a few tiffs and errors we made it there by two busses and one train. The trains are like huge toy circuits around all the city and skyscrapers above peoples heads, its rather nifty, a bit like a rollercoaster quite fun; however, reeeaally loud.
Arriving right in the cities hustle and bustle being quick on our feet to get out of peoples way became quickly apparent, being the third most populas city in the US I guess this is to be expected and even though I may be small Mother taught me to be good with my elbows; so no problems here!
The sun was beaming and there seemed to a few events on that day, with a music and food festival on the harbour and a Copa America match in play at the Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears). For anyone who has a fat wallet there is every shop I have ever heard of and more so shopping would be pretty successful as would gaining about 2 stone in weight; heaps of open front swanky looking restaurants and bars.
The sun was setting and the view and atmosphere around the city was beginning to change, the jazz and blues street musicians flocked in and the skyscrapers and well lit waterfront was looking stunning; really needed a better camera for this! But like any city I did begin to feel a little less safe as it cracked on to around midnight, I wouldn't want to be about the city alone; too many people talking to themselves and eating out of bins. Deciding to call it a day we have a smooth, in the dark mission home to Skoki (back to Marv in Walmart car park), great day had in the windy city.
