We are both so eager to get to the strip..and the hotel!!! With it being Pauls first visit but my second visit I was interested to see how much of it I recognised, as it happens, quite a lot being that I barely saw day time.
Checking in on a Sunday, everywhere, as you can imagine, was rammed! not once did I imagine this to be chill out time but it was crazy. Managing to get a room in the Skyrise tower of Circus Circus hotel on the north end of the strip was perfect for us. Circus Circus is one of the older hotels on the strip which was pretty cool. It was at the opposite end to the more new and popular hotels but it wasn't too far for us to walk, good to see the sights. The hotel itself was somewhat old-fashioned, though clean and we had a big room with a great view.
We sensibly keep things chilled on our first night stay with a walk up and down the busy strip which was in full swing. Already loving the energy in Vegas. After getting lost in the maze like casinos we see a fair few hotels on the north end (The Venetian, The Mirage, Treasure Island, Hurrahs, Encore, The Bellagio and Ceasers Palace), really impressed with the Bellagio fountain show. We have a relatively late night for us (11pm) to reserve energy for the next day.
Monday night, Any nights a good night to go out in Vegas! Not quite as busy as the Sunday but still such a great atmosphere. This is our first drinking experience since Canada so we are both probably a one drink wonder, however, a few pink champagne pre-drinks wont hurt. Wisely lining our stomachs we managed to last till 3:30am. We try our hand at the casinos-failing! sat in on some live music, had a few too many drinks along the strip and after spending way too much money (note: 2 jaegerbombs $25, this still hurts us this is around £17!!) we sway our way back to the hotel after a really good night out.
Our last day, how has this happened??! Waking up feeling quite sorry for ourselves we manage to pull ourselves out of the hotel room and slump by the pool for a bit, the heat here is around 35-40 degrees, melting! We sweat out the champers and take another walk to the other end of the strip to the Cosmopolitan, Planet Hollywood, MGM, Luxor and New York, New York. All the hotels really impressive in their own ways but The MGM are definitely, for us, at the top of the list.
Vegas Strip is in a world of its own and worth a visit at least once. Really impressive to see, un-doubt ably a fun-filled venture with a definite element of endearing tackiness- its great and crazy. Just sad not to stay longer, we've loved it.
