Next up was Bangkok by minibus to Surat Thani & a`VIP' night bus.
The journey to Bangkok was not too bad, the problem was getting dropped in Bangkok 2 hours early at 4.30 am, with no warning you were almost there, just kicked out mid sleep, bags slung on pavement & the bus making a quick exit….all a bit odd we thought.
Whilst awaiting some sunlight we camped in a 24hr subway (as in the sarnie shop) and milked the free internet whilst sipping on a can of drink…staff seemed to be taking it in turn to nap behind the counter! At this point Tracy spotted her bag straps undone, later we notice my passport, cash,mp3 etc gone and realised the stories of stuff being nicked in VIP bus baggage holds we'd been hearing on the way were all too true! Won't be doing that again!
The next day we headed off for the joys of admin!First stop tourist 'Police',… the chap seemed to have no interest in us or any info we had re the bus & he seemed to have a slight split personality, nice one min & grumpy the next (who chose him for this job?? maybe we had interrupted a doughnut break!).Luckily for us, but not for them, another couple from the same bus came in who had money stolen too, which stopped the 'Officer' from speaking to us like fraudsters! Once out of the Circus we headed to the British Embassy and parted with our 130quid for a passport…..ready in two weeks!!!
As a result of the debacle above Bangkok was put on hold and we re-jigged the plan to see more of Thailand, before returning for more Admin.
