Our first stop in Thailand was the Southern Town of Krabi.A really nice town with a few tourists, but not to the extreme of some parts, so it felt genuinely Thai.Getting there was a bit hairy, our minibus (the crap one on the right of the photo!) just about getting us there in what must be close to world record time!We are learning that a minibus is best taken on an empty stomach & a prayer!
The Chan Chalay Guest House was our home for the stay. It was run by a lovely couple (both female we think) was amazing and only 5 quid a night. The local food night market was also excellent with fab food for 50p.We sampled most of them!
We booked up for a snorkeling trip round the islands and a further day kayaking /exploring the caves. Our guide for the snorkeling trip was Camp Jimmy 'the Lisp' & he was hilarious (intentionally we weren't mocking him!), we did some deep sea snorkeling which we loved & will def do again amazing corals and weird and wonderful fish.We boat hopped around some of the islands including the island where `The Beach' movie was filmed & the famous Phi Phi island which was beautiful, but not as amazing as we were expecting.
The second trip for the Kayaking was fantastic; it was a cool group of two dads & their kids (wives off shopping!) & a lovely German lady, but our guide Yoyo made the day as he was a top bloke and picked on Al at every opportunity! The trip involved going through some caves and into a lagoon which was impressive, but also exploring some caves on foot with pre-historic paintings on the walls. We loved this trip and at the end we finished up with a mass water fight…turned out this was pointless as the heavens suddenly opened and we all got a total soaking! From the Kayaking Yoyo took us to a natural pool where we all got to go on the rope swing and behave like 10yr olds….queue top bombing from Al!!Even the little girl got involved - she must've only been about 5 and was shivering when she got out!
