Having been to Bangkok already we managed to book into the same hotel….and same room as the first time….a bargain for the City at 6quid a night. On the first day we headed straight to the student area where all the young fashion stores are as we are obviously at student age still :O) Unique clothes are ridiculously cheap here, a quid or two for a good original T-Shirt.
Day two was passport and China visa day…very boring...amusingly, there was a guy in the Embassy carpark trying to scam a few quid off people by handing out forms and taking them inside - security just turned a blind eye!
New Years Eve started with a trip to the Grand Palace. This was an amazing place and once Al had his MC Hammer slacks on (to hide his pasty legs when inside) we ventured into the grounds to explore….this place was definitely Grand…does make you wonder where all the money goes in this country! In the evening we met up with Ash and Bee and went for it….after grub, beers, bug eating?! And more drinks new-year came to a huge roar along Khaosan backpacker ghetto of Bangkok and streamers, bags of flower (a tradition and not someone spilling copious amounts of drugs over everyone!) and beer flew into the air.
New years day was a relaxed one, with a bit of grub and relaxing required.
During our remaining time we headed to Chatosuk Market, the largest covered market in Asia I believe. It was a mad house with some great bargains, we didn't have the bag space so only some small bargains picked up.Once our Thai Visa was arranged (involving a train and cab out of town!) it was off to Chaing Rai to see more of Northern Thailand.
