In the morning my Mum and I decided we'd go to the Bateman gallery. It's right downtown, and I'm surprised I've never been there before because I love Bateman so much. We spent a couple hours there, wandering through the gallery and looking at the paintings. It was so lovely to be able to see them up close and in person. The detail is amazing, but it's the composition that makes the piece. I wish I knew how to paint like he does. Makes me want to go out and take a bunch of reference pictures. They also had a bunch of wood pieces from an artist initiative that were very beautiful.
My favourite piece was the leopard. When you stand back it looks absolutely amazing. But one of the best parts was the bird section. If you waved your hand in front of the description tag, it would make the bird sound. It was cool to hear them with the paintings.
We looked at the gift shop afterwards (I wish the prints weren't that expensive, or that they had magnets), then dropped by the seafood market again to get some candied tuna, something I've never tried before. Our dinner was leftover's from Christmas. Yummy. Can't say no to that.
