For our last day, we wanted to go out to the ocean, so we decided to drive along the coast over near Sooke. First was the Esquimalt lagoon where Zach and I used to go every now and again. There were some herons out on the island in the lagoon like usual, but they were pretty far away. We tried to feed some cute ducks, but the seagulls wanted in on it. We walked across to the ocean side of the little strip of land. There were some pretty rocks (purple!) and I picked up a couple sea shells to bring home. Drove past some of the usual swans on the way out.
After that was... another lagoon. This one was a nature preserve. We didn't stay long as there wasn't much to see - there were a whole bunch of logs washed up on shore, so there wasn't anywhere to really walk, and it started sprinkling. It would have been nice to stay a while longer, but there really wasn't much we could do. We even wanted to stop by the nice bakery thats out in Sooke, but it was closed.
Then we went out to Whitty's lagoon, which I've been before. It's not really a lagoon like the other two, more of just a really tiny bay. The walk out was pretty muddy and I wasn't too happy because I just had sneakers on. But standing out on the point was really nice. The light was really pretty where the clouds were starting to roll out. We even saw a couple of seals swimming along near us.
We eventually headed back in to town and after a last walk on Caddy beach. Didn't walk down the beach too far. We took the little path up by the duck pond to say hi to the ducks. Then headed back in. It would have been nice to have a bright sunny day so we could walk in warmth down to the tree.
We had leftover Danish food (and some sushi from Fujiya). We packed up some food to take home with us. It was a good thing we checked the flight before hand because it was delayed by an hour. There was a snowstorm out East, so most flight were delayed. We arrived at the airport, got through security really quickly, but the flight was delayed another hour. We were lucky we'd saved some sushi to have as a bit of a snack while waiting. Got home super late, but at least Zach's mum picked us up.
