So we decided to send Tatty the trailer & the camping gear home, We hit the road again on Saturday 9th September in high spirits with our lighter load despite the fact that we had to climb over the Vogelsberg mountains and it was pi**ing down with rain. Our first food stop was on some damp church steps (cake), our lunch stop was a quiet affair in a sleepy village on a bench with a bit of sunshine and we had tinned ham instead of cheese (yum), our last food stop just outside Fulda I consumed the nutella pots i pinched from our first hotel (in Grunberg). We reached Poppenhaussen with no accomodation booked and all we could find were 4 star hotels until we stumbled on a Gasthaus at a sensible price, great room, jacuzzi bath and we had a great meal there as well - no more camp stove meals. We did our target of 50 miles but with 4500 feet of climbing it was not an easy day. Good result with the digs though.
