We expected an easy 50 mile ride from Colditz to Dresden with no major climbs however we still clocked up nearly 900 metres of ascent as the road went up and down all day. To quote one of my former work colleagues (Alan Healey) after WWII 'Coventry got rebuilt in concrete' so we were amazed that so many peple told us how beautiful Dresden is since 80% of it was destroyed in bombing raids. They were right Dresden is delightful and that shows in the amount of tourists we had to share it with. We had a great apartment for 2 nights with a washing machine (no knickers in the sink) and a kitchen so Donna was cooking again. We even watched a couple of movies on the netbook - the only English speaking TV channel we ever get is BBC world news and there is only so many times you can let the headlines roll around. Leaving Germany tomorrow. Donna wants to go back for Xmas as they already have a Xmas market in full flow and lots of shops selling German Xmas decorations (the wooden ones).

Amanda I am due to be in a meeting in Dresden next week which I was trying to put off. After your blog, I think I will check flights after all. Surprised it is beautiful, I was imagining a German version of Coventry !
