The decision to buy a new trailer to spread the load wasn't necessarily the right one, maybe the decision should have been to seriously lighten the load? We have 2 problems to solve. Firstly since we set off Donna has not had a good nights sleep and wakes up with a bad back every single morning. We are using the same inflatable camping matts as we have used before but no matter whether Donna's is fully or part inflated she hardly sleeps and crawls out of the tent each morning in agony. The cycling actually helps and by lunchtime she is okay. It's painful to watch though as there is nothing i can do to help and i promised her a fab time not an agonising one. The second problem is the trailer has added 14 pounds to our load and since crossing the Rhine it just got hillier. Our average speed on Wednesday was around 7.5 miles per hour. We are getting nowhere fast and this cannot go on. It will get flatter but then it will get even hillier. The only option to seriously lighten the load is to send home our shiny new trailer and our camping gear! This means stopping in hotels, hostels, guest houses, etc - all of which will impact on our kitty, but we should be able increase our daily distance. So now we are uncertain what to do, The hills were hard before now with the increased load they are murder. Donna is all for slogging on to Prague with our current load but I'm not certain I can put Donna through this and let her suffer with a bad back everyday (plus I want it to be enjoyable for me as well). The lack of photos reflects our mood. One thing is for certain we aren't ready to give up.
