Halong Bay Day Three...
Today we spent the day going back to Hanoi. We got a boat, bus, boat, boat, bus :)
We stopped back on the original boat for lunch and a swim. It was so hot when sunbathing there was no wind and it was uncomfortable, I managed to burn my back through my sarong... Yes mum I bought a sarong in Rio :) saves getting my towel sandy :P
When swimming the current was so strong it was like being on a swimming treadmill. I'd swim out 20-30m away from the boat, which was a big effort and as soon as I stopped moving I'd be back at the boat within seconds, very strange feeling.
I forgot to say, yesterday, I witnessed the funniest thing in a long time! Four English guys were trying to go kayaking, two for out in a double kayak fine, but the other two put on a proper comedy sketch!! They pushed it out then couldn't get in, so they brought it back in and the one closet the shore got in but the waves beached him, so when the second one got in they couldn't move it!! As they were beached the big waves were coming in and just filling the kayak! It was so full that they couldn't even roll it to empty it! To be fair their team work and coordination was shocking as they kept trying to roll it into the waves so even if some was coming out then next wave was just filling it again!! So they tried to scoop the water out with their hands!! It took an old Canadian guy to show them how to rock it empty and carry it back onto the beach!!
Tonight I'm on a night bus to Sapa, the bus is an experience itself! There are 3 rows of double decker recliner skinny beds... I'm sure we all look like we're packed into a meat market!!
