Today was the yearly festival of the saints, it's a public holiday for the locals, so lots of music, dancing, food and people!!
There are 15 saints they worship, both Catholic and Mother Earth. The day was started by the priest giving a service outside the Cathedral with his choir on microphones. Then each saint is carried around the square followed by its marching band and dancers then preachers. There are so many people in this place that literally all you can see are these big saints statues hovering above this sea of heads!! People were using their babies and kids to get through the crowd, as they held them up so people would move then a family of like ten would push through after!!
The markets were manic too, although we found a quiet back street courtyard to sit down and wasted time until dinner. I bought my first fridge magnet to add to my collection :) and some funky trousers which I'm sure you'll see in future pictures :)
I've made some good friends here in Cusco but it's weird to know I'm probably not going to see them too much again, some if ever! I suppose that's a feeling I've got to get used to in this travelling lifestyle ;-)
Next stop Puno...
