Sorry I haven't put anything on here the last couple of days, lets just say I know how to do things in style :-)
Since I left the UK I haven't quite felt right, but I put it down to nerves! Turns out I brought D&V with me! I managed to get my flight to Cusco, well that's a story in its self!! At check-in they only had two out of ten desks open for all their flights, and after queueing for an hour and 20mins, I got to the desk 2mins past closing time! Luckily they had another flight leaving just over an hour later and put me on that, and the nice lady gave me $30 compensation, but I have no idea how to claim it! The descent over Cusco was so so beautiful, a lot of people fall in love with this city! It is very nice, much nicer than Lima, although I haven't seen much, just from what I've gathered from throwing up in the main square :-s opps!
I arrived in Cusco Monday afternoon and I just felt so weak and constantly sick!! Apparently altitude and D&V really don't go together, so I've spent the last two nights in hospital on a drip and oxygen! When they took my initial sats my Spo2 75% OA was pretty scary to see and my blood pressure and heart rate were all over the place! So no wonder I just didn't feel quite right :-)
Feeling better now though, just trying to get out of hospital! When I asked the dr how long I'd be here for when I first came in he joked and said 'about 1 month', now I'm not so sure he was kidding!!
I've missed my first tour, that was supposed to start yesterday, but I've managed to rearrange it for the 25th and I've sacrificed my jungle stay as I now wouldn't have time to do both!! But that's probably best a since being in hospital I haven't taken any anti malaria tablets as everything is still at the hostel, I thought I was only coming for a clinic check up!!
The hostel have been really good though and kept my space in the dorm as all my belongings are there! Definitely recommend the Milhouse hostel Cusco if anyone's coming this way!
But make sure you don't bring a bug from England and see your own GP first about antisickness tablets for altitude sickness, from talking to people... It gets everyone!!
Also I have learned never to judge someone for picking their nose and complaining about wearing nasal specs, they're horrible! I apologise to all my past patients, I will be more understanding in the future :-)
I'll let you know when my travels actually begin :(
