Today I took a touristy bus from Cusco to Puno, I think I was the youngest person on it :) and we all had to wear bright green tourismo VIP badges :-s but the lunch was worth it :-D
It stopped at 4 places, the American cistine chapel, another Inka Ruin village, the highest point in Peru and a pre Inka village and church. It was all very interesting to see, felt like I was going back in time to Puno.
When I arrived in Puno, the taxi driver spent 30mins looking for my 'so called' hostel, taking me down roads and getting irate with the traffic, I felt very intimidated especially as the sun went down!! After 3 phone calls to the hostel he finally found it!
The hostel.... Well!! There was no name on the front for starters, the lady was lovely and gave me a private room, the room had a choice of 6 beds, all of them dipped massively in the middle except one! It was freezing!! So I went for a little walk around, when I say little I mean my room was at the top of the stairs next to the bathroom and the 'lounge' was at the bottom of the stairs!! I soon discovered why it was so cold, the building wasn't finished, there was no back wall and no windows just holes! I thought I could see it out as I was leaving early morning, but luckily my friends emailed me saying they were at a different hostel with a spare room... So I did a runner!! So glad I did as the new hostel had 4 walls and windows, and Puno was -5 degrees that night!
