Today we travelled from Nelson to Franz Josef, a total distance of 600 km a long way in a car. Fortunately I road the first 130 km up two large hills the second one hitting 650m at the top of this one I stopped to send a txt to let Emily know where I was. While I was stopped a guy pulled across the road, stopped next to me in his van and said ? ahhhhh you have the skinny tyres yes?? proceeded to get out of his van and onto his crutches walked to the back of his van, rummaged around for a bit then handed me somebody?s saddle bag with a spare tube and leavers. He wished me luck and carried on his way!Emily packed up the tent did a little shopping (for my food I might add) and went for a run while I toiled away on the open road! Open it most certainly was. There is no glass and no rubbish most certainly the nicest scenery I have ever seen in fact I have never seen soooooo many trees and mountains, lakes and rivers.  We have just had our dinner and are now getting ready to bed down for the night as tomorrow we will be out walking for 6 or so hours on the glaciers. Yay for us!!
